Gap Filling of Verbs

Concept Explanation

Gap Filling of Verbs

Gap-filling : - A gap-fill is a practice exercise in which learners have to replace words missing from a text. These words are chosen and removed in order to practise a specific language point.

Verbs : - These are words that refer to an action or a state of being. A sentence must have a verb or else it is incomplete. Along with nouns, verbs are the main part of a sentence or phrase, telling a story about what is taking place. In fact, without a verb, full thoughts can’t be properly conveyed, and even the simplest sentences, such as Maria sings, have one. Actually, a verb can be a sentence by itself, with the subject, in most case you, implied, such as, Sing! and Drive!

Regular Verbs : - Verbs in the past tense and past participle form take an - ed or -en or -t. Such verbs, with the suffix  -ed, -en or -t are called regular verbs.

For Example : - I advised you to slow down. Here , advised is a regular verb as it ends with ed .
